The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is the national membership organization for the nation’s federally qualified health centers (also known as FQHCs or Community Health Centers). Health centers are nonprofit, community-directed health clinics that provide access to high-quality, culturally competent, and comprehensive care to people living in medically underserved areas. NACHC strengthens the health center movement through advocacy, training, and technical assistance, clinical and operations support. Job Purpose and Basic Function

The individual will work with NACHC’s Development leaders to research opportunities, develop, and manage grant and funding submissions for the organization. Work requires a deep understanding of researching public and private funding opportunities, assessing needs of NACHC’s functional areas (departments), working with team members to write and execute compelling needs statements and proposal narratives. The individual should also be familiar with federal grant and contracting processes. The Manager, under the direction of the AVP and in a team environment, will collaborate with internal functional areas to identify funding opportunities and develop compelling grant proposals.

 

 

Description of Primary Responsibilities and Duties  

  1. Research and work with leadership to target and develop at least 20-25 proposal submissions annually for public and private grants and/or contracts.
    1. Collaborate across NACHC with other functional areas on ‘needs assessment’ resources that capture national, state, and local needs of health centers, PCAs, HCCNs, and NACHC, and help inform proposal approach and strategy.
    2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and PDI staff to strategize, write, and coordinate proposals while ensuring compliance with all Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements.
    3. Research and identify relevant public and private grant opportunities that match the organization's programs and initiatives.
    4. Prepare project plans with assigned deliverables and deadlines and proactively manage projects against proposal timelines.
    5. Take a lead role writing and developing high-quality grant proposals, including conceptualizing project ideas, crafting compelling narratives, and assembling all required documentation.
    6. Collaborate across NACHC with other functional areas on ‘needs assessment’ resources that capture national, state, and local needs of health centers, PCAs, HCCNs, and NACHC, and help inform proposal approach and strategy.

 

 

  1. Support function area responsibilities and activities related to engagement with NACHC’s constituents.
    1. Support the planning and implementation of NACHC conference education.
    2. Support function area at NACHC conferences, constituent-supported meetings, and/or other meetings as needed.
    3. Support function area reports/briefings for NACHC’s Board of Directors and in response to items raised by constituents.
    4. As directed, staff and support NACHC Committees, Subcommittees, and/or Taskforces of the Board of Directors.

 

  1. Support and engage in cross-organizational engagement efforts with colleagues.
    1. Represent function area, and/or based on self-directed interest with supervisor approval engagement, in cross-organizational workgroups as requested or as interested based on experience, needs, and availability. This may include Performance Improvement (PI) teams, affinity groups, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) teams, review panels, HR interview panels, and/or other NACHC efforts.

 

Professional/Technical/Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities  

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college (or equivalent experience in years of work on grant and proposal development).
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills (content, grammar, style, formatting, organization).
  • Significant successful experience with private and public grant proposal development, contracts, and/or responding to federal task orders.
  • Progressively responsible positions developing and reviewing funding proposals to ensure accuracy and responsiveness.
  • Experience developing collateral materials and templates for grant and funding proposals including statements on needs, organizational capacity, operations, and evaluation approaches. Experience with completing logic models and project workplans.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional growth with an interest in learning and

mastering new skills.

 

Technical Skills 

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experienced user of video-conference platforms including Microsoft Teams, Zoom.
  • Experienced with project management platforms (Asana preferred)
  • Familiarity with grants.gov and any federal platforms for granting or contracting.
  • Superior verbal and written skills.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient in any necessary project management, customer relationship management, learning management platforms, and other virtual apps or software.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000
