The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is the national membership organization for the nation’s federally qualified health centers (also known as FQHCs or Community Health Centers). Job Purpose and Basic Function   

This position is a member of the Public Policy & Advocacy Division at NACHC. Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Policy & Regulatory Affairs, the Federal Policy Specialist will be responsible for providing program management and policy support for the NACHC Federal Policy Team. The federal policy specialist will manage policy resource development and communicate with NACHC members and stakeholders. This position has the opportunity to work on a broad range of federal policy issues including: rural health, Medicaid, Medicare, and issues impacting safety-net providers and underserved patients. 

 

Description of Primary Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Provides administrative and program management support to the Federal policy team. 

  • Manages federal policy inbox and responds to member inquiries.  

  • Responsible for compiling and organizing weekly newsletters.  

  • Draft email communications to support the federal policy team’s projects and events.  

  • Oversees logistics and coordination for federal policy team’s webinars and presentations.  

  • Develop resources like issue briefs, factsheets, and blogs to educate health centers, PCAs, and HCCNs. 

  • Collaborate with the Federal Affairs team to evaluate and respond to federal legislation. 

  • Analyze federal legislative proposals to assess the impact on community health centers and their patients.  

  • Familiar with policy research platforms. 

  • Manage coordination and collaboration with primary care associations on emerging federal policy. 

  • 10-15% of travel per year.  

 

Professional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 

  • Bachelor’s degree in public policy, public health, or a related field, with at least 2-3 years of professional experience. 

  • Familiar with health policy and health equity.  

  • Superior multitasking skills. 

  • Superior organizational skills.  

  • Experience creating and delivering substantive presentations.  

  • Comfortable with public speaking virtually and in person.  

  • Commitment to NACHC’s mission and pillars. 

 

Salary Range:

$57,100 - 59,740
