The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) is the national membership organization for the nation’s federally qualified health centers (also known as FQHCs or Community Health Centers). Health centers are nonprofit, community-directed health clinics that provide access to high-quality, culturally competent, and comprehensive care to people living in medically underserved areas. NACHC strengthens the health center movement through advocacy, training, and technical assistance, clinical and operations support. Basic Function:

The Manager of Federal Policy works closely with the Associate Vice President of Policy & Regulatory Affairs to manage and advise on emerging federal policy issues impacting the nation’s health centers. In this role, the manager of Federal Policy is a member of the federal policy team serving as a project manager for granted funded projects and develops resources in response to emerging federal legislation and policy.  

 

Primary Responsibilies:

  • Work in coordination with the Federal Policy team to evaluate and respond to emerging federal policy issues. 

  • Develop resources like issue briefs, factsheets, and blogs to educate health centers, Primary Care Associations, and Health Center Controlled Networks. 

  • Present frequently on national membership webinars and provide NACHC members with technical assistance on emerging policy issues.  

  • Collaborate with the Federal Affairs team to evaluate and respond to federal legislation. 

  • Analyze federal legislative proposals to assess the impact on community health centers and their patients.  

  • Serves as project manager for grant-funded projects to execute and manage grant deliverables. 

  • Oversees and manages grant budget cycle and fiscal deadlines. 

  • Manages communications with subgrantees and grant partners.  

  • Works in coordination with federal policy team to execute workplans.  

  • Represent NACHC in national coalitions and key stakeholder events.  

  • Organize and conduct national trainings and learning collaboratives for staff at health centers, Primary Care Associations, and Health Center Controlled Networks. 

  • Role requires 10-15% travel per year.  

 

 

Technical Skills/Knowledge:

  1. Broad understanding and knowledge of federal health policy. 

  1. Previous work experience related to Medicaid, Medicare, health insurance, community health centers, safety-net providers, and/or primary care.  

  1. Must be familiar with reviewing and analyzing federal legislation.  

  1. Superior grant management skills.  

 

Education Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s (Master’s preferred) degree in public policy, public health, or a related field, with at least 2-3 years of professional experience. 

 

Technical Skills:

  • Grant management.  

 
  • Experience creating and delivering substantive presentations.  

  • Comfortable with public speaking virtually and in person.  

 

Salary Range:

$70,782 - 90,000
