Position Summary:

The Vice President (VP) of Membership is an experienced, strategic leader who will oversee all NACHC membership operations, including recruitment and retention; onboarding and engagement; committees and participation; customer experience; and the development of diverse benefits to provide a strong value proposition. NACHC’s vision is to build a thriving member experience across all categories: Organizational, Associate, Corporate, Health Care Controlled Network, and Individual.

 

This position works under the supervision of and in close partnership with the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Constituent Services and supervises membership staff.

 

Finally, this position serves as a senior leader at NACHC, contributing to enterprise-wide thought leadership, strategic planning, and organization-wide priority-setting.


Key Responsibilities:

1)    Value proposition and alignment: Using available analytics, survey data, and input from the field, work collaboratively across the organization to consistently improve NACHC’s suite of benefits and services to ensure membership satisfaction and a strong understanding of how membership fuels the community health center moment.

 

2)    Recruitment and retention: Develop materials, campaigns, and engagement events designed to achieve sustained membership. Monitor the performance of NACHC’s dues model to identify the potential for improvements.

3)    Onboarding and engagement: Develop and lead new member onboarding orientations and strategies to consistently re-engage existing members to increase participation and improve on-time retention and participation in NACHC.

4)    Representation and promotion: Represent NACHC at conferences and community health center visits to develop relationships with members, listen to the needs of the field, connect members with available resources, and promote membership. Also participate in regular check-in calls with health centers.

5)    Customer experience: Create an exceptional customer experience for members and nonmembers, overseeing NACHC’s frontline customer service staff and looking for ways to improve systems and processes.

6)    Membership metrics: In collaboration with NACHC’s research staff, develop a regular cadence and approach to survey the health center field to assess NACHC’s organizational performance and track NACHC’s net promotor score.

7)    Committees and participation: Support committees and other special interest groups to advance the community health center movement through active member participation, ensuring meaningful outcomes and a positive member experience.

8)    Brand awareness: In collaboration with communications and marketing staff, support efforts to promote the health center movement to be the provider of choice, employer of choice, and partner of choice.


Required Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience at a membership association (or similar), including at least 4 years at a senior leadership position with budget oversight, team management accountability, and experience participating on a leadership team.
  • Detailed and results-oriented with a passion for creating an exceptional and inclusive member experience.
  • Vast experience promoting the value of membership, ideally in both the trade (organizational) and individual membership settings, through branding, campaigns, content, and experiences.
  • Experienced spokesperson with a strong executive presence, who can represent NACHC and communicate and synthesize complex issues crisply, clearly, and convincingly.
  • Experience in strategically establishing, maintaining, and growing internal and external partnerships.
  • Strong diplomatic skills and experience engaging stakeholders and partners, following through, building consensus, and bringing diverse groups together throughout the process.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Health center governance subject matter expertise, including demonstrated knowledge of the HRSA Health Center Program and its implications for health center governance.
  • Nonprofit governance subject matter expertise.
  • Experience working with nonprofit boards and volunteer board members.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong interpersonal and partner relationships with diverse individuals and organizations.
  • Highly developed organizational and project management skills with meticulous attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of adult learning, learning management systems, content development, and program evaluation.
  • Demonstrated competence in the application of adult learning and instructional design principles and techniques.
  • Business acumen in the provision of training and technical assistance services.
  • Ability to develop, communicate, and execute effective strategies and plans.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience providing strategic leadership, including leading a team and developing work plans.
  • Ability to provide enterprise-wide thinking.

Salary: $199,000 - $231,000
